Debussy, Achille Claude. Studied at the Paris Conservatory, 1873, under Marmontel and Lavignac; gained the Prix de Rome, 1882; the Grad Prix, 1884. Composed an opera, a cantata, orchestral and piano pieces, songs. b. St. Germain-en-Laye, France, Aug. 22nd, 1862; d. Paris, Mar. 25th, 1918.
