Biography of Sir Michael CostaCosta, Sir Michael Andrew Agnus (Michele Andres Agniello). Knighted, 1869. Studied at the Naples Conservatory under Girolamo Crescenti and Nicolò Antonio Zingarelli; pupil of Muzio Clementi. Musical director of the King’s Theatre, London, England, 1832; conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra, 1846; the Italian Opera at Covent Garden, London, 1846; the Sacred Harmonic Society, 1848; the festivals at Birmingham, Bradford, and Leeds; the Handel Festival, 1857.
