Biography of François BenoistBenoist, François. Studied at the Imperial College, Nantes; the Paris Conservatory, 1811-15, under Catel and Adolphe Adam, winning the prix de Rome with “Œnone”, 1815. Court organist in Paris, 1819. Professor of organ at the Paris Conservatory, 1820-72. Composed operas, ballets, organ pieces, &c. b. Nantes, France, Sep. 10th, 1794; d. Paris, May 6th, 1878.
