Biography of J. C. Ames

Ames, John Carlowitz. Pupil of Sir Herbert S. Oakeley; studied at Charterhouse School; Edinburgh University; the Stuttgart Conservatory under Lebert (piano) and Pluckner (piano); in Dresden with Franz Wullner. Concert pianist. Composed choral and chamber music, &c. b. Westbury-on-Trym, England, Jan. 8^th, 1860; d. Torquay, July 21^st, 1924.
