Biography of Clarence EddyEddy, Hiram Clarence. Studied in Greenfield, Massachusetts, with J. G. Wilson; in Hartford, Connecticut, with Dudley Buck (organ); in Berlin with A. Haupt (organ) and Albert Löschhorn (piano), 1871. Organist of the Bethany Congregational Church, Montpelier, Vermont, 1858-71; the First Congregational Church, Chicago, Illinois, 1874-76; the First Presbyterian Church, Chicago, Illinois, 1879-96; recitalist at the Vienna Exposition, 1873; Philadelphia Centennial, 1876; concert organist; touring the U.S.A. and Europe. Director of the Hershey School of Musical Art, Chicago, Illinois, 1876; a founder of the American Guild of Organists. Moved to Chicago, Illinois, 1874. Composed organ music, church music, songs, &c. b. Greenfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A., June 23rd, 1851; d. Chicago, Illinois, Jan. 10th, 1937.
