Biography of Battison HaynesHaynes, Walter Battison. A.P.S. Chorister at Malvern Priory under William Haynes; studied in London with Franklin Taylor (piano) and Dr Ebenezer Prout (harmony); at the Leipzig Conservatory under Salomon Jadassohn and Dr Karl Reinecke. Organist of St. Philip’s, Sydenham, London, 1884-91; the Chapel Royal, Savoy, London, 1891-1900. Professor of harmony and counterpoint at the Royal Academy of Music, London, 1890. Composed cantatas, church music, songs, organ pieces, &c. Nephew of William Haynes. b. Kempsey, near Worcester, England, Nov. 21st, 1859; d. Marylebone, London, Feb. 4th, 1900.
