Studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, under George Macfarren (composition), Walter Macfarren (piano) and Steggall (organ), 1873. Assistant organist of St. Michael’s, Paddington, London, 1876; organist of All Souls’, South Hampstead, London, 1876-80; St. Paul’s, Bow Common, London, 1880-99; St. Nicholas’ Parish Church, Sutton, 1899-. Professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Music, London, 1885-. Composed operas, &c. Cousin of Dr William H. Speer. b. Cheltenham, England, Nov. 21st, 1859; d. Sutton, Oct. 27th, 1921.
