Biography of Charlton T. Speer

Speer, Charlton Templeman. A.R.A.M., A.R.C.O., F.R.A.M. Studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, under George Macfarren (composition), Walter Macfarren (piano) and Steggall (organ), 1873. Assistant organist of St. Michael’s, Paddington, London, 1876; organist of All Souls, St. John’s Wood, London, 1876-80; St. Paul’s, Bow Common, London, 1880-99; St. Nicholas Parish Church, Sutton, 1899-. Professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Music, London, 1885-. Composed operas, &c. Cousin of Dr William H. Speer. b. Cheltenham, England, Nov. 21st, 1859; d. Sutton, Oct. 27th, 1921.
